Thats funny, I work for an airline and we don’t require that. In fact, all four of the airlines I’ve flown on didn’t. I also fly on most of the major US airlines, and this doesn’t happen. Is this some kind of an urban myth? Or, perhaps only certain captains request this? The mystery continues.
I mean to say that all for of the airlines I’ve flown FOR do not require this. Strange.

Continental Airlines ranked around 5th place for best airline to travel on with American Airlines, United, and Southwest Airlines at the bottom of the list.

However, research shows most people do not typically look for the “airline” when traveling, particularly if its not international. Most passengers look for the best affordable rates and go from there.
